I've been on the internet for a long time, and it's kind of hard to tell if it's gotten better or worse. I go on YouTube and feel a wave of stimulation. So much information, so much misinformation, short videos that seem to have no other purpose than to grab your attention in the worst possible way. I'm not saying that all content on the internet has to be something productive and life-changing no, it's not it! It's just that sometimes I feel making content so easy now that people don't even think about what they're doing anymore. I like shorts, I don't watch them very often, but I like them. But it seems to me that with the popularization of YouTube shorts/TikTok, people have found a way to make content and go viral much easier than it was before. For example, sometimes a short about makeup appears to me on YouTube, a niche I don't normally consume, but the algorithm simply sends it to everyone. And with this popularization of short videos and the algorithm just sending these videos to anyone, I see many people doing whatever they can to get attention. Like, things that years ago you would have been afraid and ashamed to say to everyone on the internet are now expressed naturally. Criminal opinions, obviously fake news, and other bullshit and ragebait can be found without much effort, and there are people who agree with it. I just can't believe this is the normal scenario on the internet we're dealing with nowadays. But of course, that's just my opinion and experience. I'm not a social media algorithm professional.
